Do you work with companies outside of a retainer arrangement?
+
Yes. Many clients engage Absurance for specific transactions — a fundraising round, a compliance clean-up, a winding-up. A retainer is not a prerequisite. For transactional work, we agree on a clear scope and fee upfront before beginning.
We are a startup and our compliance is in a mess. Can you help?
+
This is more common than most founders admit. We begin with a compliance audit — reviewing MCA records, statutory registers, and past filings to understand what is missing and what is material. A remediation plan is then agreed, and we work through it systematically before putting you on a clean ongoing compliance track.
We have a fundraising round closing in a few weeks. Is it too late to bring you in?
+
It depends on the stage and complexity. We have worked on rounds with short timelines. Reach out with the details — term sheet status, instrument type, whether there is a foreign investor involved — and we will give you an honest assessment of what is achievable.
Do you handle tax matters?
+
No. Absurance focuses on corporate secretarial, compliance, and governance work. For tax matters — GST, income tax, transfer pricing — we recommend engaging a qualified CA. For ESOP specifically, the perquisite tax and capital gains dimension sits with your CA; we handle everything else on the ESOP.
We are based outside Mumbai / outside India. Can you still help?
+
Yes. Most of our work is conducted digitally and does not require physical presence. We work with founders and companies regardless of where they are based. For DSC and certain notarisation requirements involving foreign nationals, we advise on the process and coordinate accordingly.
How are fees structured?
+
Retainer engagements are priced on an annual basis, depending on the company's profile and compliance requirements. Transactional work is priced per scope. Fees are discussed and agreed before any engagement begins — there are no billing surprises. We do not publish standard fee schedules as every company's situation is different.
